VHS Tape Description

Movies with "wacky" titles are almost never any good, and Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! was intentionally made to be an instant golden turkey. Despite that, and the grade-Z production values, this is a regularly funny film. You need to be a fan of the kind of low-budget horror movie it's spoofing, and you need to be very forgiving of the technical ineptness and frequent clunkers, but it works. The story? Well, tomatoes attack, basically. Jack Riley and the San Diego Chicken are in it, and that genuinely alarming helicopter crash you see in an early scene was a real accident. Seen now, the whole ratty affair brings back agreeable memories of the circa-1978 college-movie/midnight-cinema era, when seeing this film was virtually unavoidable. The sequel, Return of the Killer Tomatoes! (with a young George Clooney), is actually an even funnier film. Director John De Bello would continue to squeeze the Tomatoes franchise for years to come. --Robert Horton

There's a Tomato-lover in all of us!!

As a classic cult favorite of mine, I was ecstatic to receive "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" in my mailbox. Although cheesy and hopelessly ridiculous, how can you not laugh? Just watching these red bean-bags fly from off camera is exciting. The acting resembles "Airplane", very bad but oh so very good.

If you haven't seen this movie, please do not take it seriously. But I urge you to purchase it and enjoy it on one of those giddy-no-sleep-nights!

If you have seen this movie, WHY DON'T YOU ALREADY OWN IT?!

Samuel's review

You never herd of the killer tomatoe movies? well i have, so i desided that i would tell you about them, and they are called "killer'' tomatoes, and tomato is spelled T-O-M-A-T-O, well here we go with the killer tomatoes, the killer tomatoes eat PEPOLE!!! so that is why they are called ''killer'' tomatoes, there are four killer tomatoes movies, guess how many i have, that`s right! all of them! all four of them! now, where was i, o,yes! the first killer tomato movie is called ''attack of the killer tomatoes'' where killer tomatoes are attacking the world! and this guy named ''mason dixson'' has to save the world from the red menace, (the killer tomatoes) next, ''return of the killer tomatoes'' where a mad scientist named ''dr. ganggreen'' makes an army of tomato pepole (inclueding a tomato women) but when a pizza maker named ''chad falls in love with the tomato babe, (tomatoe women) things are gonna get sqishey, will chad and his friend matt and thiss fuzzy tomatoe named ft a.k.a fuzzy tomatoe (famous tomato) save her or will the girl of her dreams be a complete vegtable?next ''killer tomatoes strike back'' dr. gangreen is back! and ready to make a b.l.h! (bacon lettuce and humen sandwich) for the killer tomatoes lunch (dinner) will they save the girl and kill dr. gangreen? then part 4 of the tomatoe series ''killer tomatoes eat france'' killer tomatoes go to france, and dr.gangreen is in the france jail! but when he comes out, things are gonna get sqishy, and he makes a giant fire-breathing tomatoe named ''tomatoehed'' and thats all, no more ecsept for the remakes made by....well, you get the idea, but i love the killer tomatoes, and also the movies.

A guilty pleasure on a excellent DVD!

In San Diego, ordinary tomatoes have become menacing mutant vegetables with an appietite for humans as they spread through the nation. Agent Mason Dixson ( David Miller) has been hired by the government with the help of misfits including Wilbur Finletter ( Steve Peace) to stop the mad red veggie menace from taking over the world and find out who is behind this.

Entertaining and unexpectionally goofy musical Sci-fi horror parody indie production that was pretty much low budget and was based on the director's earlier short film version of his "Attack of the Killer tomatoes". Yes the acting, dialog and storyline are preety bad but this does have a couple of funny moments, a memorable theme song and a few musical numbers makes a pure guilty pleasure for me, this is a geniunely so-bad it's good movie that deserves it's cult following.

This collector's edition DVD offers good picture & sound quality and has quite good extras like audio commentary, the original two short films from the movie's creators especially the original "Attack of the Killer tomatoes" short with the director's commentary, trailer, two easter eggs, sing-along songs, radio spots, trivia, six featurettes, and deleted scenes. If you like cult flicks, horror, Sci-fi, spoofs and Family Guy then i recommend this movie!
