DVD Description

Science fiction took a grim turn in the 1970s--the heyday of Agent Orange, nuclear peril, and Watergate. Suddenly, most of our possible futures took on a "last man on Earth" flavor, with The Omega Man topping the doom-struck heap.

Charlton Heston plays the government researcher behind the ultimate biological weapon, a deadly plague that has ravaged humanity. There are two groups of survivors: a dwindling band of immune humans and an infected, psychopathic mob of light-hating quasi-vampires. The infected are led by Mathias, a clever, charismatic man set on destroying the last remnants of the civilization that produced the plague. Heston has a vaccine--but he and the few remaining normals are outnumbered and outgunned. By day, he builds a makeshift version of the nuclear family (with Rosalind Cash as his afro-wearing, gun-toting little lady). They plan for the future while roaming freely through an empty urban landscape, taking what few pleasures life has left. By night, they defend themselves against the growing horde of plague victims. Both a bittersweet romance and a gothic cautionary tale, The Omega Man paints a convincing portrait of hope and despair. It ain't pretty, but it's a great movie. --Grant Balfour

the futures only hope is the president of the nra charlton heston

ok sue me,i love this piece of cheese from the 70's. a remake of sorts of the last man on earth, heston is a doctor who used a expermental sereum on himself after a bio war has wiped out most of the world. the people who are left are albinos who can't get out in the sun(i.e. vampires,as they were in the book), and they want heston to die for his crimes(he is free of the germ and was an army doctor so they blame him for the end of the world. heston spends his days tracking them and killing them and his nights whole up fighting off the mutants.
this was a staple of late night t.v. and for some reason the sunday afternoon movie. you can tell in the stunts that it's not heston and some of the speachs are well corny, but the movie even with it's down beat story is fun and can be scary for younger kids(still i would be very careful about letting young ones see it as it has some nude scenes in it)
the widescreen transfer is very good as is the sound and the extras are small but very nice.

WATCH LAST MAN ON EARTH!

ok so.. For a while it was hard to find but It'S AVAILABLE now..

VINCENT PRICE in the original version of I AM LEGEND. It's most usually in a two pack set...

I have found it doubled up with HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL but I've also seen it on several other collections..

So go watch it then watch this one..

i always liked this film

i really did like this movie growing up and still do. sure it's cheesey but thats part of the charm of it. you can spot the stunt people when you shouldn't see them but this was a late night find when i was young and it just won me over. the story of the only person in the world who doesn't have this germ warfair sickness that turns them albineio (vampires) and has him killing them just to live in what is left of l. a.! from there the story spins into other plots but it is great fun to watch charlton heston chew the scenery and "make a statement" with this 70's hit
